David has developed his knowledge of all matters relating to debt and money advice over the past ten years whilst working in personal insolvency. He has passed the Certificate for Proficiency in Insolvency examination.
David Tannock initially began his career working for HM Revenue & Customs as a Self-Assessment Administrator. This provided him with a view of debt and its associated problems from a different perspective. Witnessing the stress and other issues that debt can cause for people he decided to move into the debt advice sector. This provided him with the opportunity to assist people that are experiencing financial difficulty, due to debt, in a more proactive way.
David tells us that, “I particularly enjoy the hands-on approach of working with a client to find the most appropriate solution to deal with their debts. Every individual’s circumstances are different; to organise and assist a client to deal with their debts in a more manageable way is the part of the job I enjoy the most. From the initial meeting with a client who is struggling with their debts, to the completion of their arrangement, you can often see a massive change for the better in their outlook on life. To be able to think that I’ve played a small part in that improvement is great”.
“When I’m not driving all over Scotland meeting people as part of my work I am the treasurer, coach and player for my local amateur football team. Trying to balance the books of a football team has its challenges but with my insolvency experience I’ve managed to do a good job so far! I also enjoy walking our dog with my partner and stepson, and going fishing with my dad and brother”.
