I’m a Debt Adviser and Relationship Manager based at the Edinburgh office of Henderson Loggie. I am an Approved Money Adviser, and also have a BTEC Advanced Certificate in Debt Resolution. This allows me to professionally assist clients requiring debt advice in Scotland and to set up a Debt Arrangement Scheme where it is appropriate. I cover the whole of Scotland with regards to Debt Arrangement Scheme enquiries.

Before considering whether a client is suitable for a DAS, I hold an initial discussion with them in relation to their current financial situation. In this discussion I am working to establish which debt solution might be best suited for that individual.

DAS allows people who are unable to pay their debts, as they fall due, to repay the debts over a longer period of time. This is accomplished through a debt payment program. During this time all charges and interest are frozen which allows contributions from the client to go directly to reducing the debt. The Debt Arrangement Scheme does require someone to have a reasonable level of surplus income available after they have covered their essential needs (such as food, accommodation, gas, electric, council tax etc.).

My role is to assist and act on behalf of the client(s), to ensure that they fully understand the process, and to act upon their approval where applicable to enter the Debt Arrangement Scheme.

When a client is part of the DAS it gives them peace of mind and the convenience that a single payment is being made. This should help them to manage their way out of a debt problem and thereby give them the potential to afresh in the future.

I’m married and live in the central belt of Scotland. I have been involved in providing debt advice for the past eleven years. Six years were spent working with local councils and five years in the private debt resolution sector. I’m keen on golf and football. I also enjoy playing the guitar, although my wife, friends (and any other listeners) aren’t quite so enthusiastic about my skills!
